Preparation method
  • Pre-heat the oven to 180 °C.
  • Place a baking tray in the oven and allow to heat up with the oven.
  • Using a food processor: process the flour, butter and cheddar cheese until a dough is formed.
  • Remove from the processor and flatten slightly to form a small round disc.
  • Cover with cling wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 10 - 15 minutes.
  • Roll the pastry out on a floured surface to a thickness of 3 mm.
  • Line a 25 cm loose-bottomed tart case.
  • Prick the lined pastry case with a fork and fill with baking paper and blind baking beans.
  • Rest in the fridge for 10 - 15 minutes and then blind bake for ± 10 minutes until half-baked.  
  • Heat the oil and butter in a large saucepan and sweat the onions until soft and translucent. Continue to cook over medium heat until caramelized.
  • Remove from the heat.
  • Add the cumin and KRAFT Cheddar Cheese and stir through.
  • Allow to cool slightly before adding the cream and eggs. 
  • Season with salt and pepper. 
  • Fill the blind baked pastry case with the filling.
  • Return to the oven, placing the tart case on the hot baking tray and bake for ± 20 minutes until the filling is set.
